Alzheimer is a neuralgic disorder for which there is no cure. It is a disease in which brain cells degenerates which ultimately results in death. President Ronald Regan was diagnosed with Alzheimer disease at the age of 83 which took his life in 1994. He had informed the nation about his disease in a hand written letter that he was one of the millions of Americans who would be afflicted with Alzheimer disease.

The disease slowly destroyed his mental capacity and he was not able to recognize people. He only recognized a few people besides his wife. It was then that I first came to know about this disease. It is said that every 71 second someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer in America. This alone is the sixth largest cause of death in America.

Alzheimer Association Memory Walk strives to create awareness in public about this disease and raise funds for the support and care of people who are affected by it. The funds raised through their awareness program are also used for research for this disease.

If you know anyone who is affected by this disease and want to participate in the awareness program, you can join an Alzheimer’s Memory WalkWalk along with a large number of other people and move the nation to support the people who are affected by this disease.
