The leaders of the ruling coalition in Pakistan have said that they would start impeachment proceedings against President Pervez Musharraf. This was said in a joint press conference by Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif. Zardari derided the economic policies of the president and held him responsible for the economic travails of the country.
Zardari also accused the president of undermining the transition to democracy. Someone must tell Zardari that democracy does not mean change on clothes only. Pervez Musharraf has done a lot for the country and if the people do not realize it, it would be better for him to step down. If the President was responsible for bad policies, why is it that his policies have not been reversed so far?
If it was wrong to send forces in tribal areas and Baluchistan, why has the new democratic government not called the military back?
The new government has thrown the country into an abyss from where it would not be easy to jump out. I believe that the main reason for bringing the impeachment motion is this that Zardari does not want to restore judges and hence in order to detract the attention of the people, he has started a new show. I think that Zardari should have the moral courage to say that he would face all the corruption and murder charges against him in the courts instead of getting everything clean with the infamous NRO. The NRO was also issued by Pervez Musharraf.

Local government elections are being held in Bangladesh under the military backed caretaker government. This is the first election since the caretaker government imposed a state of emergency in the country. In order to facilitate the election process the government has relaxed emergency measures. General elections which were due last year could not be held because of political violence. I hope that the local government elections are conducted in a free and fair manner.

Despite every step taken by the caretaker government to find a new leadership in the country, it is the same Awami League versus Bangladesh National Party once again. This is the same situation which we saw in Pakistan where General Pervez Musharraf took a number of steps to introduce democracy in the country, but in the end it was Pakistan People’s Party versus Pakistan Muslim League.

I think that so long as the people of the country do not try to find an honest and true leadership, their problems are not going to be solved. If the people are satisfied with corruption and inefficiency what can be done? People themselves seal their fate when they vote for corrupt people.

In seafoods I like fish the most. There are other things as well such as prawn, crabs etc which people like but I have never been able to bring myself round to eating prawns and crabs. I not only like fish but I sometimes cook fish myself. It is not that I like cooking very much or I am good at cooking, but I like to cook on holidays or on fishing trip with friends.

Today I will share you the recipe of stuffed fish cutlasses and I hope that you will like it. You will need the following ingredients to prepare fish cutlasses.

1. 500 gms boneless fish
2. 4 bread slice
3. Half cup milk
4. One onion
5. 4 tablespoon butter
6. 4 hard boiled eggs.
7. 1 tablespoon green coriander
8. Half cup bread crumbs
9. Salt and black pepper according to your taste.
10. Oil

After you have made available all the ingredients necessary to make fish cutlass, cut the edges of bread slices and soak them in milk. Chop bread slices, fish, butter, onion, salt and pepper in a food processor. Heat two tablespoon of oil in the pan and fry bread crumbs, green coriander, chopped boiled eggs for two minutes. Add salt and white pepper. Make cutlass of fish mince, put a filling on it and wrap it like a ball. Heat oil in a wok and coat cutlasses with egg and bread crumbs and fry it. You can serve this with tea in the evening.

Co-chairman of PPP says that no deal took place between PPP and President Musharraf where as it is no longer a secret that a deal took place between them which resulted into NRO and he was made immune to rules of common laws for all and sundry.

His party has come to power and he is in a good position of sending President Musharraf home. But must be a bit careful in making statements .The deal is in the knowledge of International media also.

Pervez Musharraf has snubbed the Pakistan Peoples Party over its constant demand of a UN investigation of the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. He was talking to a French newspaper Le Figaro. He said that there was no parallel between the two murders of Rafik Hariri and Benazir Bhutto as in the case of the former another country was accused.

I think that the PPP should also show some sense and let the investigation move forward under the supervision of Scotland Yard team which has come in the country to assist local authorities. Mr. Musharraf has made it clear that the findings of the Scotland Yard investigation will be made public before the coming general elections.
